Return of the King

Reduce each day to a second’s beat;
Let time’s hands go flying faster by!
Feel not the moon’s chill, nor sun’s heat;
Let time flee and clock’s ticking fly!
Let sorrow, tears and longing be gone,
But look ahead to the red horizon —
Israel has waited for this day so long —
The day the King rides down from Zion!
Let ages and eras and histories past
Depart from our memory at trumpet’s call;
To eternity, six thousand years will fade fast —
They are but nothing in the King’s banquet hall.
Arise, oh Israel! The Most High awaits!
Praise be to the King who holds Heaven’s gates!
