The Little Stream

Listen!
Hear the tumbling of the stream?
The cheerful gurgling brushing by,
Over pebble, stone and moss —
Whispering, calling, to you and I?
Rustling, bustling, happily following
The age-old course that it has wound
Through the forest — come near, and listen!
Listen to the water’s sound!
See the ripples in the blue,
The drops that hold the sunbeams near;
The forest sings the river’s tune;
How blessed am I this hymn to hear!
