Crown of Beauty

So we continue in our study of Isaiah 62.  I really should be keeping up better on here, but I worked 42 hours last week and I have a 36 hour week coming up, so I have neglected to post regularly!  Hopefully I can be more diligent.  Thank you all for your readership, it encourages me very much!

We left off in verse 2 of Isaiah 62, having set the stage for verse three with two thoughts:  first, our righteousness is burning torch for all the world to see — it is our witness.  Secondly, the nations see this righteousness, given to us by God and not of our own strength, and see us called by our “new name” — Forgiven, Adopted, and Loved.

Perhaps some of you own a “Book of Promises” that contains Bible verses pertaining to specific issues you face day to day.  I own several.  As I flip through the pages, I can’t help but be amazed by all the promises God makes to us.  What is yet even more amazing is the fact that He is faithful to every one.  Isaiah 62 is no different.  This passage is one list of promises — each verse contains more than one!  Verse three continues the pattern of promise that God set forth for the children of Israel — and for us.

“You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God.” ~Is. 62:3 (emphasis mine)

When I read this verse I envision God’s hand held out from the sky, and resting in His palm is a beautiful diadem — a tiara, or a crown.  And He says that that is us.  The daughters of God.  Women of faith.  The word “crown” indicates royalty, for we are His daughters, and He is the King.  We are His princesses:

“All glorious is the princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold.  In many colored robes she is led to the King, with her virgin companions following behind her.  With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king.”  ~ Ps. 45:13-15

Living as a princess of God would be a life lived satisified and contented.  This is what I have been trying to learn over the past months.  The life of the princess of God is a life lived in the palm of His hand.  It is a life of trust.  This life will be the most rewarding and satisfying life there is, because it takes place inside the will of God.  No matter where you are, no matter what your circumstances, you are living as His princess, and that is where He wants you to be.

“For You meet her with rich blessings; you set a crown of fine gold upon her head.” ~ Ps. 21:3

  1. This is word of God is beautiful! What stuck out to me was how God is faithful to keep every single one of the promises He made to us. I want to be like that. God be with you in your long week!
